Hot News Today: Great UCLan Scholarships 2015-2016 for Indian Students

The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) is delighted to offer 8 scholarships to students in India commencing a postgraduate programmes in September 2015. The scholarships are in the form of a reduction in the tuition fee, to the value of £3,750 per student.

Applicants must,

Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan



This is an annual scheme made available to all Commonwealth countries by the Commonwealth Scholarships Commission. The India programme is managed jointly by the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU, UK); Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India and the British Council.
Scholarships
It covers:
  • Economy return international travel
  • Tuition fee
  • Adequate maintenance and other allowances
Subjects covered:
  • Engineering and Technology
  • Science (Pure and Applied)
  • Agriculture
  • Humanities and Social Sciences
Duration:
One-year in case of Master's, six-months in case of Clinical Training and three-years in case of PhD. 
Candidates who have already completed Ph.D. or are about to complete it will not be considered.
Institution:
Any UK University and Institute
Fellowship:
Fellowship is available in any academic subject (including Medicine and Dentistry). Fellowships are primarily intended for younger established teachers (not for the senior members of the department) to enhance their teaching and/or research experience, or in the case of Medicine and Dentistry, clinical skills relevant to what they're going to study at the institution they choose.
Commonwealth Fellowships are not available for higher degrees. 
Duration:
Commonwealth Fellowships are for six months. Awards normally run from October in any year (i.e. the beginning of the academic year in the UK).
Medicine and Dentistry:
If you are a medically qualified applicant and your programme requires you to practice clinically, or to work in a laboratory department reporting on samples from patients, you can only be considered eligible for registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) or the General Dental Council. 
The UGC sends circulars to all universities in July or August every year for nominations for the awards beginning the following academic year.
Scholarship
You must apply for these scholarships at least one year before the course starts. Deadlines vary, so you must check that you know what the deadline is before applying.
Eligibility
  • be an Indian citizen residing in India
  • have completed tertiary education in English medium
  • hold a doctorate (or other postgraduate qualifications accepted as sufficient for the career you are in)  
  • have been awarded your doctorate no less than five and no more than ten years from the date of taking up the Fellowship  
  • have at least two-years experience as a staff member of a university or similar institution in your home country
  • be aged 40 or under at time of applying.

To be selected, you must be an academic staff member of staff and get nominated by the executive head of the university you work full time at. This is followed by shortlisting of applications and personal interviews in New Delhi.

The preliminary selection of candidates for scholarships is carried out in India by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Department of Education, and Government of India.

Do not write to the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) in London, as they cannot allocate individual scholarships. Contact the Commonwealth Scholarship Agency in your own country. If you are already in the UK, the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) can help you with general information concerning the scheme, but it cannot issue application forms to international students.
The CSFP is aimed at students of Commonwealth countries who can make a significant contribution to their home country after the completion of a higher education programme in the UK. The Commonwealth Scholarship is currently open for applications for 2012.
This is a source of funding made available to all Commonwealth countries by the Commonwealth Scholarships Commission. Awards are usually between 1 - 3 years, and cover tuition fees, living expenses and the cost of travel to and from the UK.

    4. Dentistry
    5. Orthopaedics
    6. Neurology
    7. Ear, Nose and Throat
  • or one year taught master’s courses or equivalent degree, three years doctoral degree, one year research on a split site basis, towards a PhD.
Candidates who have already completed a PhD, or are about to complete it, are not considered for this award ..
